The HeavensHealthy ecosystems create healthy humans.

Now being built in Cedar Creek, Texas

A nature-first wellness resort on thirty acres of cedar forest, twenty minutes from downtown Austin. Domes of stained glass and reclaimed cedar, a limestone pool fed by a waterfall, dinner grown a few steps from the table.

It began as a home. It became a community project.

People used to come over for dinner. Then they started staying for the weekend — out on the trails, s’mores by the fire, nowhere to be. The Heavens is that weekend, made into a place.

“Stay the whole weekend, go on the hikes… and come back a better person. It’s called an experience.”

Twelve domes, named for the stars

Spanish Neo-Gothic domes built from aircrete — the first domed eco-luxury resort of its kind in the U.S. Each is one of one: handcrafted stained glass by Jim Berry of Blue Moon Glassworks, reclaimed cedar carved into sinks and furniture, sculptural walls that hold the cool of the earth.

Or sleep closer to the wild

Nature-preserve tents under the live oaks for glamping nights, and overnight villas right at the water’s edge, where the waterfall is the last sound you hear.

A limestone pool you walk into like a beach

The largest all-natural beach-entry resort pool in Austin: hand-set limestone, white plaster, and a waterfall pouring into it from above.

  • 200,000gallons of water, entered from a gentle limestone shore
  • 12 ftwaterfall at its heart
  • Day & nightday cabanas and day passes, plus overnight waterfront villas

A garden-to-table restaurant in the old 3,200 sq ft ranch house. Part of what’s on your plate is grown on the land, in organic gardens built by hand.

The kitchen cooks the way the founders eat: clean, seasonal, and honest. There’s a juice and spirits bar too.

Built inside a living habitat, not on top of it

Behind the house, a little bridge crosses the water. In a single week the trail camera caught coyotes, skunks, and bobcats with rabbits in their mouths — crossing in the middle of the day.

That’s the neighborhood. The resort is designed around it: botanical gardens and native habitat, paths instead of roads, and thirty acres left to do what they already do well.

What would it mean to become indigenous to place again?

The question at the heart of Dan Mages’ writing — and of this place.
