The Heavens ATX ← All concepts

Come for the weekend. Leave a better person.

A nature-first wellness resort on thirty acres of cedar forest, twenty minutes from downtown Austin. Twelve hand-plastered domes, a limestone pool fed by a waterfall, and a kitchen that grows its own dinner.

Being built by hand in Cedar Creek, Texas. Opening in phases.

Healthy ecosystems create healthy humans.

The Heavens began as a place its founders lived. Friends came over for dinner, and then they stayed: for the hikes, for s'mores by the fire, for the whole weekend. Somewhere along the way it stopped being a house and became a community project.

What people were finding there has a simple name. It's an experience. You go out on the trails, you sit under the stars, and you come back a better person. The resort is that weekend, built to last.

“The health of a species is the habitat made visible.”

Dan Mages, co-founder, philosophy professor and writer of Tribal Truths

What would it mean to become indigenous to place again?

trail cam, one week: coyotes, skunks, bobcats with rabbits — midday

bobcat prints on the boards, coyote mid-stride

Behind the house, a small bridge crosses the water. In a single week, a trail camera caught coyotes, skunks, and bobcats carrying rabbits, crossing in the middle of the day. The Heavens is being built inside a living habitat, not on top of it.

Sleep under a constellation.

Twelve aircrete domes, each named for a constellation: Virgo, Scorpio, Leo, and nine more under the same sky. Around them, villas at the waterfall's edge and tents set into the nature preserve. Every room is one of one.

The domes

Spanish Neo-Gothic aircrete with handcrafted stained glass and sculptural interiors. The first domed aircrete eco-luxury resort in the U.S.

Waterfall-front villas

Overnight studios on the limestone at the water's edge. Fall asleep to the waterfall.

Nature-preserve tents

Glamping under the live oaks and junipers, with the habitat right outside the flap.

Made by hands you could meet

Stained glass by Jim Berry of Blue Moon Glassworks. Cedar reclaimed and carved into one-of-one sinks. Stone, tile and mosaic set by a creative director who has spent 28 years building restaurants, music venues and places people remember.

Walk into the water like a shoreline.

The largest all-natural beach-entry resort pool in Austin: limestone, white plaster, and a twelve-foot waterfall at its head. Stay overnight at the water's edge, take a cabana for the afternoon, or come for a day pass.

Oeste

the old ranch house, porch kept

Oeste. Dinner from the garden.

The converted ranch house becomes Oeste, a garden-to-table kitchen: organic, non-GMO, and cooked without seed oils, with part of every plate grown on the land. A juice and spirits bar sits inside the same walls.

Gather under open sky.

The amphitheater

A 450-capacity bowl for live music and events, programmed by a co-founder who has produced more than 1,000 of them.

The yoga pagoda

A covered platform among the trees for morning practice, retreats and quiet.

Weddings & retreats

Ceremony by the waterfall, dinner from Oeste, guests asleep in the domes. Designed from the start for special events.

Thirty acres that were here first.

Coastal live oak, cedar, American holly and Ashe juniper. Botanical gardens and native habitat are part of the plan, not leftover space. Look down on the trails and you'll find the neighbors' tracks.
